Bilge Plates

Bilge plates are the flat steel plates that are fitted at the bilge of a ship, where the bottom of the ship meets the side. They are installed to prevent the accumulation of water in the bilge, which can cause stability issues and corrosion. Bilge plates are usually welded to the hull and extend from the keel to the turn of the bilge. They are designed to create a smooth transition between the bottom and the side of the ship, which helps to reduce drag and improve the ship's performance. Bilge plates are an important component of a ship's design and are carefully calculated to ensure that they provide the necessary protection and performance benefits.
