Bill Of Lading
A Bill of Lading (B/L) is a legal document issued by a carrier to a shipper that details the type, quantity, and destination of the goods being carried. It serves as a receipt of shipment when the goods are loaded onto the vessel and a contract of carriage between the carrier and shipper. The B/L also serves as a document of title, which means that it can be bought, sold, or traded while the goods are in transit. In addition, the B/L can be used as collateral for financing the shipment. It is an essential document in international trade and is required for customs clearance and the release of goods at the destination port.
