Cargo Owner
A cargo owner is a person or entity who owns the goods being transported by a vessel. The cargo owner is responsible for ensuring that the cargo is properly packed, labeled, and documented in accordance with international regulations. They are also responsible for arranging for the transportation of the cargo from the point of origin to the final destination. The cargo owner may choose to hire a freight forwarder or shipping agent to handle the logistics of the shipment, or they may choose to handle it themselves. In either case, the cargo owner bears the risk of loss or damage to the cargo during transit.
