Electronic Navigational Charts

Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) are digital charts used for navigation on ships. They are created and maintained by hydrographic offices and contain information such as water depths, navigational hazards, and aids to navigation. ENCs are used in Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) which provide real-time navigation information to the ship's crew. ENCs are updated regularly to ensure that the latest information is available to the navigator. They are an important tool for safe navigation and are required to be carried on board all SOLAS vessels.
