Graving Docks

Graving docks are large, rectangular-shaped structures that are used for the maintenance, repair, and construction of ships. They are typically made of concrete or stone and are located along the waterfront. Graving docks are designed to be flooded with water, allowing ships to be floated in and out of the dock. Once a ship is inside the dock, the water is drained out, leaving the ship resting on a dry platform. This allows workers to access the ship's hull and perform maintenance or repairs. Graving docks are an essential part of any large port or shipyard, as they provide a safe and controlled environment for ship maintenance and repair.
