Hatch Bars

Hatch bars are heavy metal bars used to secure the hatch covers in place on a ship's cargo hold. They are placed across the hatch covers and secured to the ship's structure using cleats or wedges. Hatch bars are an important safety feature as they prevent the hatch covers from shifting or being dislodged during rough seas, which could lead to cargo shifting or even loss of the cargo and endangering the ship and crew. Hatch bars are typically made of steel and come in various lengths and thicknesses depending on the size and weight of the hatch covers they are securing.
