Horning

Horning is a sailing term that refers to the act of turning a boat or ship around by bringing the stern through the wind, so that the wind changes from one side of the boat to the other. This maneuver is typically used when tacking upwind, and allows the boat to change direction without losing too much speed or momentum. Horning requires careful coordination between the helmsman and the crew, as well as a good understanding of wind direction and sail trim. It is an essential skill for any sailor, and is often practiced during sailing lessons and training sessions.
