Hot Work

Hot work refers to any activity that involves open flames, sparks, or heat sources that could potentially ignite flammable materials on board a vessel. This includes welding, cutting, grinding, and other similar activities. Hot work is a common cause of fires on ships and can lead to serious accidents and injuries. To prevent these incidents, strict safety protocols must be followed, including obtaining proper permits, isolating the work area, and having fire suppression equipment on hand. Hot work should only be performed by trained and authorized personnel who are familiar with the risks and safety procedures involved.
