Intermodal Transportation

Intermodal transportation refers to the movement of goods using multiple modes of transportation, such as ships, trucks, trains, and planes, without any handling of the freight itself when changing modes. This means that the cargo is transported in a single container or trailer, which is transferred from one mode of transportation to another, without the need for unpacking and repacking. Intermodal transportation is a cost-effective and efficient way of moving goods over long distances, as it allows for the use of the most appropriate mode of transportation for each leg of the journey, while reducing the time and cost associated with handling and loading/unloading of cargo. It is widely used in the maritime industry for the transportation of containers between ports and inland destinations.
