Metacentric Height (GM)
Metacentric height (GM) is a measurement of the initial static stability of a floating body. It is the distance between the center of gravity of a ship and its metacentre, which is the point where a vertical line through the center of buoyancy intersects with the centerline of the ship. A high GM indicates that a ship will be more stable, while a low GM indicates that a ship will be less stable and more prone to capsizing. GM is an important factor in ship design and stability analysis, as it affects the ship's ability to resist external forces such as waves and wind.
