Navigation skills refer to the ability of a sailor to navigate a vessel safely and efficiently from one point to another using various tools and techniques. These skills include the ability to read and interpret nautical charts, use navigational instruments such as compasses and GPS systems, calculate distances and bearings, and understand the principles of tides and currents. Navigation skills also involve the ability to plan and execute a voyage, taking into account weather conditions, vessel performance, and potential hazards.
