Salmon Lice
Salmon lice are parasitic copepods that attach themselves to the skin, fins, and gills of salmonids, including salmon and sea trout. They feed on the mucus, skin, and blood of the fish, causing damage to the host's skin and leading to secondary infections. Salmon lice infestations can cause significant economic losses in the aquaculture industry, as well as negatively impacting wild salmon populations. Control measures include the use of chemical treatments, biological control agents, and improved management practices to reduce the risk of infestation.
