Skimming Systems

Skimming systems are equipment used to remove oil spills from the surface of the water. These systems consist of a collection device, such as a boom or a weir, which is used to corral the oil, and a skimmer, which is used to remove the oil from the water. Skimmers can be either passive or active. Passive skimmers rely on the natural flow of water to move the oil into the collection device, while active skimmers use pumps or other mechanical means to move the oil. Skimming systems are an important tool in oil spill response, as they can quickly and efficiently remove large quantities of oil from the water surface, reducing the impact of the spill on the environment and wildlife.
