Tuck

Tuck refers to the process of securing the sails of a ship by taking in the excess canvas and tying it down. This is done to reduce the surface area of the sails and make them more manageable during high winds or storms. Tucking can be done by hand or with the help of mechanical devices such as winches. It is an important maneuver in sailing as it helps to maintain control of the ship and prevent damage to the sails and rigging.
