After Rake
After Rake refers to the condition of the sea surface after a strong wind has subsided. The term is used to describe the residual waves that remain after a storm or gale has passed. These waves can be dangerous to small boats and inexperienced sailors as they can cause the vessel to capsize or swamp. The height and frequency of the waves depend on the strength and duration of the wind that caused them. After Rake waves can persist for several hours or even days after the wind has died down, making navigation difficult for mariners.
