Drilling Rig

A drilling rig is a machine designed to drill into the earth's surface for the purpose of extracting oil or gas. It consists of a derrick or mast, a drilling string, a drilling fluid circulation system, and various other components. The drilling string is composed of drill pipe, drill collars, and a drill bit, which is used to break through the rock formations. The drilling fluid, also known as mud, is circulated through the system to cool and lubricate the drill bit, as well as to carry the rock cuttings to the surface. Drilling rigs can be either onshore or offshore, and can be classified as land rigs, jack-up rigs, semi-submersible rigs, or drillships, depending on their location and design.
