Air Casing

Air Casing refers to the space between the wellbore and the drill pipe or tubing in a drilling operation that is filled with compressed air. The air is used to prevent the walls of the wellbore from collapsing and to facilitate the removal of drill cuttings. Air Casing is commonly used in offshore drilling operations where the wellbore is located beneath the seabed. The compressed air is supplied from the surface through the drill pipe or tubing and is circulated down to the bottom of the wellbore and back up to the surface through the annular space between the drill pipe or tubing and the wellbore wall.
