Airspace

In maritime context, airspace refers to the portion of the atmosphere above a particular area of water that is controlled by a coastal state. This includes the airspace over the territorial sea, contiguous zone, and exclusive economic zone. The coastal state has the right to establish regulations and restrictions on the use of this airspace, including the requirement for foreign aircraft to obtain permission before entering. The purpose of controlling airspace is to ensure the safety and security of the coastal state, as well as to prevent unauthorized activities such as smuggling or illegal fishing.
