Altar

In maritime context, an altar refers to a structure or a place of worship on board a ship or a vessel. It is usually a small table or a shelf where religious ceremonies and rituals are performed. Altars are commonly found on naval vessels, especially those that are deployed for long periods of time. They are used by chaplains or religious leaders to conduct services and offer prayers for the crew members. Altars may also be used for personal devotions and meditation. The design and location of an altar may vary depending on the ship's layout and the religious beliefs of the crew members.
