BOEMRE
The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE) was a United States federal agency tasked with managing the exploration and development of the country's offshore resources in an environmentally and economically responsible way. It was responsible for overseeing offshore oil and gas drilling, renewable energy projects, and marine mineral extraction. BOEMRE was created in 2010 as a result of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and was later reorganized into the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) in 2011.
