Capesize

Capesize refers to the largest size of bulk carrier ships that are too large to pass through the Panama Canal and instead must traverse the Cape of Good Hope or Cape Horn to transit between oceans. These vessels typically have a deadweight tonnage (DWT) of 100,000 or more and are used to transport commodities such as iron ore and coal. Due to their size, Capesize vessels require deep water ports and specialized infrastructure for loading and unloading. They are also subject to higher operating costs and longer transit times than smaller vessels. Capesize vessels play a critical role in global trade, particularly in the transportation of raw materials for industrial production.
