Consolidator

A consolidator is a company that combines small shipments from multiple shippers into a single, larger shipment that can be transported more efficiently and cost-effectively. In the maritime context, a consolidator is a freight forwarder or a shipping agent who consolidates small shipments from different shippers into a single container or a shipment. The consolidator arranges for the transportation of the consolidated shipment from the port of origin to the port of destination. The consolidator also takes care of the documentation, customs clearance, and other formalities related to the shipment. Consolidators are particularly useful for small and medium-sized businesses that cannot afford to ship full container loads. By consolidating shipments, they can benefit from lower shipping costs and better transit times.
