Distillation
Distillation is a process of separating the components of a liquid mixture by heating it to a temperature where one or more of the components vaporize and then cooling and condensing the vapors into separate containers. In maritime context, distillation is commonly used to produce fresh water from seawater. This is done by heating seawater to create steam, which is then condensed into fresh water.
