Global Navigation Satellite System

Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is a satellite-based navigation system that provides location and time information in all weather conditions, anywhere on or near the Earth. GNSS is used for navigation, positioning, and timing applications in maritime, aviation, land-based, and military operations. The system consists of a constellation of satellites, ground control stations, and user receivers. The most widely used GNSS is the Global Positioning System (GPS), operated by the United States government. Other GNSS systems include GLONASS (Russia), Galileo (European Union), BeiDou (China), and NavIC (India). GNSS has revolutionized the maritime industry by enabling accurate and reliable navigation, improving safety, and increasing efficiency.
