Hounds

Hounds refer to a type of small, fast-moving naval vessels that were used for coastal defense and patrol during the 18th and 19th centuries. These vessels were typically armed with a small number of guns and were crewed by a handful of sailors. Hounds were designed to be fast and maneuverable, allowing them to chase down smugglers and other illicit traders who operated along the coast. They were also used to intercept enemy vessels and to provide support for larger warships. Despite their small size, hounds played an important role in naval warfare during this period, and their speed and agility made them a valuable asset to any fleet.
