Inboard

Inboard refers to a type of marine propulsion system where the engine is located within the hull of the vessel. The engine turns a driveshaft which is connected to a gearbox that turns the propeller. Inboard engines are commonly used in larger vessels such as yachts and commercial ships. They offer several advantages over outboard engines, including better fuel efficiency, quieter operation, and improved handling in rough seas. Inboard engines also allow for more interior space in the vessel as they do not take up valuable deck space. However, they can be more difficult and expensive to maintain and repair compared to outboard engines.
