Jury Rig

Jury Rig is a temporary or makeshift arrangement of ropes, sails, or spars to replace a damaged or lost mast or to provide an emergency rig for a vessel. It is a method of rigging a vessel in an improvised way to keep it afloat and make it navigable until a proper repair can be made. The term 'jury' in this context means 'makeshift' or 'temporary'. Jury rigging is a common practice in emergency situations at sea, and it requires a high level of skill and knowledge of the vessel's rigging and equipment.
