Load Shedding

Load shedding is the deliberate and temporary interruption of electrical power in a particular area or region, usually due to a shortage of power supply. In the maritime context, load shedding may occur in ports or onboard ships when the power demand exceeds the available power supply. This can happen when ships are docked and require power for various operations such as cargo handling, refrigeration, and lighting. Load shedding is necessary to prevent a complete blackout and to ensure that the power supply is distributed evenly among all users. It is usually managed by a central control system that monitors the power demand and supply and decides which areas or users to shed power from.
