MAIB
MAIB stands for Marine Accident Investigation Branch, which is a UK government agency responsible for investigating marine accidents involving UK vessels worldwide and other vessels in UK territorial waters. The purpose of MAIB is to determine the circumstances and causes of accidents and to make recommendations to prevent similar accidents from happening in the future. MAIB investigates accidents involving all types of vessels, including commercial ships, fishing vessels, pleasure craft, and offshore installations. The investigations are conducted independently and impartially, and the findings are published in reports that are made available to the public.
