Malacca-max

Malacca-max refers to the maximum size of a vessel that can pass through the Strait of Malacca, which is a narrow stretch of water between the Malay Peninsula and the Indonesian island of Sumatra. The size limit is determined by the depth of the water, the width of the channel, and the height of the bridges that span the strait. The current Malacca-max size is around 20,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT), which means that vessels larger than this size cannot navigate through the strait. This size limit has a significant impact on global shipping routes, as the Strait of Malacca is one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world.
