Marine Food Webs
Marine food webs refer to the interconnected food chains that exist within marine ecosystems. These food webs are made up of producers, consumers, and decomposers, and they play a crucial role in maintaining the balance of marine ecosystems. Producers, such as phytoplankton and seaweed, are at the base of the food web and are consumed by primary consumers, such as zooplankton and small fish. These primary consumers are then consumed by larger predators, such as sharks and whales. Decomposers, such as bacteria and fungi, break down dead organisms and recycle nutrients back into the ecosystem. Marine food webs are complex and dynamic, and changes in one part of the web can have cascading effects throughout the entire ecosystem.
