Midship Beam

Midship Beam refers to the width of a ship at its widest point, which is usually located near the middle of the vessel. It is an important measurement for shipbuilders and naval architects as it determines the stability and carrying capacity of a ship. Midship Beam is often abbreviated as B or Bm in naval architecture and is measured in meters or feet. A ship with a wider midship beam will have greater stability and carrying capacity, but may also be slower and less maneuverable. On the other hand, a ship with a narrower midship beam will be faster and more maneuverable, but may have less stability and carrying capacity.
