Mooring

Mooring refers to the process of securing a vessel in a particular location using ropes, anchors, or other devices. It is an essential operation for ships when they arrive at a port or need to remain stationary in open waters. The mooring process involves attaching the vessel to a fixed or floating structure, such as a pier, buoy, or another vessel, to prevent it from drifting away due to wind, waves, or currents. The mooring system must be strong enough to withstand the forces acting on the vessel and flexible enough to allow for movement. Proper mooring is critical for the safety of the vessel, crew, and other vessels in the vicinity.
