Pack Ice

Pack ice refers to a large area of floating ice in the ocean that is made up of many separate pieces of ice that have been pushed together by wind and currents. It is also known as ice floe or sea ice. Pack ice can be found in both polar regions and can vary in thickness and density. It can pose a significant hazard to ships, as it can damage the hull and propellers, and can also make navigation difficult. However, pack ice can also be used as a natural platform for scientific research and exploration, as well as a habitat for various marine animals such as polar bears, seals, and penguins.
