Photovoltaic Cells

Photovoltaic cells, also known as solar cells, are devices that convert sunlight directly into electricity. They are made of semiconductor materials, such as silicon, and work by absorbing photons from sunlight, which knock electrons in the semiconductor material into a higher state of energy, creating a flow of electricity. Photovoltaic cells are commonly used in the maritime industry to power navigation lights, communication equipment, and other electrical systems on board ships and offshore structures. They are also used in marine renewable energy systems, such as floating solar farms and wave energy converters, to generate electricity from the sun's energy.
