Regasification

In the maritime context, regasification refers to the process of converting liquefied natural gas (LNG) back into its gaseous state. This process is crucial in the LNG supply chain, particularly in the receiving end of the chain. LNG is transported in its liquid state in specialized LNG carriers, which are designed to maintain the extremely low temperatures necessary to keep the gas in liquid form. Upon reaching its destination, the LNG is offloaded and sent to regasification facilities. These facilities use heat exchangers to gradually increase the temperature of the LNG, converting it back into a gaseous state that can be transported through pipelines for distribution to end users. The regasification process is carefully controlled to ensure safety and efficiency. It plays a vital role in the global energy supply chain, enabling the transport of natural gas from regions where it is abundant to regions where it is in demand.
