Repatriation

Repatriation is the process of returning a person or group of people back to their country of origin or citizenship. In the maritime context, repatriation refers to the process of returning seafarers to their home country after completing their employment contract on board a vessel. This process involves arranging transportation, obtaining necessary travel documents, and ensuring that the seafarer receives their wages and entitlements. Repatriation is an important aspect of seafarer welfare and is regulated by international maritime labor laws, including the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC), 2006.
