Roll Motion
Roll motion is the side-to-side movement of a vessel around its longitudinal axis. It is one of the three primary movements of a ship, the other two being pitch and yaw. Roll motion can be caused by various factors such as wind, waves, and the vessel's own stability characteristics. Excessive roll motion can lead to discomfort, seasickness, and even capsizing in extreme cases. Roll stabilization systems such as anti-roll tanks, fins, and gyroscopes are commonly used to reduce roll motion and improve the comfort and safety of the vessel.
