Salvage

Salvage is the act of rescuing a ship, its cargo, or any other property from peril at sea. It involves the recovery of a vessel that has been damaged, sunk, or stranded, and the protection of the environment from any potential pollution. Salvage can be carried out by specialized salvage companies or by the crew of the vessel in distress. The salvor is entitled to a reward, which is usually a percentage of the value of the property saved. The amount of the reward is determined by the degree of danger involved in the salvage operation, the skill and efforts of the salvors, and the value of the property saved.
