Sea Anchors

Sea anchors are devices used to stabilize a ship or boat in heavy weather conditions. They are designed to reduce the drift of a vessel and keep it headed into the wind and waves, thus preventing capsizing or broaching. Sea anchors are typically made of heavy-duty fabric and attached to the bow of the vessel with a line. They work by creating drag in the water, which counteracts the force of wind and waves on the vessel. Sea anchors are commonly used by sailors, fishermen, and other mariners who operate in rough seas or stormy weather.
