Sea Lice

Sea lice are actually tiny jellyfish larvae that can cause an itchy rash in humans. In the maritime context, sea lice are also known as fish lice or salmon lice, and they are a major problem for the aquaculture industry. Sea lice are parasitic copepods that attach themselves to the skin of fish, feeding on their blood and mucus. This can cause significant damage to the fish, leading to reduced growth rates, increased mortality, and decreased quality of the fish. Sea lice infestations can also spread quickly from one fish to another, and can be difficult to control. As a result, sea lice are a major concern for fish farmers and fisheries managers around the world.
