Seismology

Seismology is the scientific study of earthquakes and the propagation of elastic waves through the Earth or through other planet-like bodies. It involves the analysis of the sources, mechanisms, and effects of earthquakes and other seismic phenomena, as well as the prediction of their occurrence. Seismologists use a variety of tools and techniques, including seismometers, to measure and record seismic waves, and computer models to simulate and analyze seismic activity. The study of seismology is important for understanding the structure and dynamics of the Earth's interior, as well as for assessing and mitigating the risks associated with earthquakes and other seismic events.
