Splice

Splice is a method of joining two ropes or wires together to form a continuous length. It is a common practice in the maritime industry to splice ropes for various purposes such as mooring, towing, and rigging. The process involves unraveling the strands of the ropes to be joined, interweaving them together, and then tucking the ends back into the rope. This creates a strong and seamless joint that is able to withstand heavy loads and tension. Splicing is preferred over knotting as it maintains the full strength of the rope and does not create any weak points. It is a skill that requires practice and expertise to master.
