Suction Dredgers

Suction dredgers are vessels that use a suction pipe to remove sediment and debris from the bottom of water bodies. The suction pipe is lowered to the bottom of the water body and the sediment is then sucked up and transported through the pipe to a storage area on the vessel. Suction dredgers are commonly used for maintenance dredging, which involves removing sediment to maintain a certain depth for navigation purposes. They can also be used for environmental dredging, which involves removing contaminated sediment. Suction dredgers come in various sizes and can be self-propelled or towed by another vessel.
