Thermal Conductivity

Thermal conductivity is the property of a material to conduct heat. In maritime context, thermal conductivity is an important factor in determining the insulation properties of materials used in shipbuilding. Materials with high thermal conductivity allow heat to pass through them easily, making them poor insulators. On the other hand, materials with low thermal conductivity are good insulators, as they resist the flow of heat. In shipbuilding, materials with low thermal conductivity are used to insulate the ship's interior from the external environment, preventing heat loss or gain. Thermal conductivity is measured in watts per meter-kelvin (W/mK).
