Tidal Power

Tidal power is a form of renewable energy that converts the energy obtained from tides into useful forms of power, mainly electricity. It is a predictable and reliable source of energy as tides are caused by the gravitational pull of the moon and the sun, and their patterns can be accurately predicted. Tidal power can be harnessed through the use of tidal turbines, barrages, and tidal lagoons. Tidal turbines are similar to wind turbines and are placed underwater to capture the kinetic energy of the moving water. Tidal barrages are dams built across estuaries or bays, which use the potential energy of the water to generate electricity. Tidal lagoons are similar to barrages, but are constructed in a circular shape and are not built across a river mouth.
