Topside

In maritime context, topside refers to the upper deck of a ship or offshore platform, including all structures and equipment located above the waterline. This includes the main deck, superstructure, masts, cranes, helipads, and any other equipment or structures that are installed on the upper deck. The topside is where most of the ship's operations take place, such as cargo handling, navigation, and communication. It is also where the crew's living quarters and recreational areas are located. The design and arrangement of topside structures and equipment are critical to the safety and efficiency of the vessel or platform.
