Trawl Net
A trawl net is a large fishing net that is dragged through the water by one or more boats. It is cone-shaped and has a wide opening at the mouth that tapers down into a narrow end called the cod end. Trawl nets are used to catch fish and other marine organisms that live near the bottom of the ocean. They are commonly used in commercial fishing operations and can be several hundred meters long. Trawl nets can be designed to target specific species of fish and can be modified with different mesh sizes and shapes to reduce bycatch of non-target species.
