Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs)
Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) is a unit of measurement used in the maritime industry to describe the cargo capacity of a container ship. It is based on the volume of a standard 20-foot-long (6.1 m) intermodal container, which is the most common size used for shipping. One TEU is equal to one such container, while a 40-foot container is equal to two TEUs. The capacity of a container ship is often measured in terms of the number of TEUs it can carry. This measurement is important for determining the efficiency and profitability of a shipping company, as well as for planning and managing cargo operations.
