Upward Force

In maritime context, upward force refers to the buoyant force exerted by a fluid on an object immersed in it. This force is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object and acts in the opposite direction to the force of gravity. Upward force is a crucial concept in naval architecture and ship design as it determines the stability and safety of a vessel. A ship must displace enough water to generate an upward force that is greater than its weight in order to float and remain stable. Failure to achieve this balance can result in capsizing or sinking.
